Al-Cantára
What makes the difference
In 2005, Al-Cantara was born from the intuition that a good wine is "poetry" and it is an "art" to make it. Right from the outset, the winery has established a national and international reputation thanks to its high-quality wines, recognized by several important awards. This culminated in the remarkable achievements at Vinitaly. With eight wines highlighted in the 5 StarWines – The Book, Al-Cantàra was crowned “Winery of the Year – Gran Vinitaly 2023.”
These results are due to our team's care in managing the vineyards and the professionalism of our winemaker, Salvatore Rizzuto from Saccenza, a graduate of Alba with experience in Bordeaux and the Langhe.
The sophisticated and modern packaging is another distinctive feature of Al-Cantàra products. The unmistakable labels are embellished with beautiful images created by young Sicilian artists (including, most recently, Annachiara Di Pietro) who highlight the traditions, culture, and territory of Etna.
SMALL MUSEUM
"The Hazelnut House"
The Little Museum is an old farmhouse dating back to 1850 called la "Casa delle Nocciole" (the House of Hazelnuts)."Today, it hosts the works of painters, photographers, and sculptors featured in five events organized by Al Cantàra over the years.
For each event we made a catalog with the artists' profiles. The artworks were sold at an official auction. The proceeds from the auctions were donated to two associations (one in Catania and one in Palermo) that work with abandoned children and rare childhood conditions. Lately, the proceeds from the event on ceramics went to AIL (Italian Association Against Leukemia). Over the years, we have made about EUR 25,000!
The artwork that was not sold is now kept in our "Little Museum."
There are about 400 works made by 300 artists.
Come and visit us and see what we have accomplished!
