Etna Territory

The Territory

Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, rises to 3340 meters and provides a unique ecosystem for viticulture. Etna's slopes are composed of volcanic soils that vary from pebbly to sandy and ashy in texture. These soils, renewed by each eruption, are rich in minerals essential for healthy vine growth.

The biodiversity of the area contributes to wines with distinctive organoleptic profiles.

The Climate

Etna's climate is strongly influenced by altitude.

Unlike typical Mediterranean Sicily, the mountainous area has cooler temperatures, with significant temperature swings of up to 25 degrees between day and night. Rainfall is also much more frequent than in the rest of Sicily.

These conditions promote balanced ripening of tannins in red wines and allow aromas in white wines to develop harmoniously.

Etna The Terroir

The Terroir

Etna's terroir is characterized by unique geological, climatic and viticultural factors.

The combination of fertile soils and the microclimate created by the altitude allow the cultivation of native grape varieties such as Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante.

These grape varieties express the minerality of the volcanic soil and their connection to the Etnean territory,

creating wines of great personality, marked freshness and elegance.
